what an amazing story... 👍
I wanted to share a story from last year, A day where i could have suffered some bad injuries. It was a lovely foggy morning and the sun was just coming up, seeing the deer at this time in the morning is always wonderful. I was walking through the tall bracken and in the distance i could just make out a large red deer stag. I was around 70 meters away which is considered safe. We have a rule that you do not get closer than 50 meters from the deer as its extremely dangerous during the rutting season. The stags eyes locked on to me, for a few seconds it was just us two staring at eachother but that's when things started to change and get real. The stag was slowly walking towards me, I was slowly moving further away from him. He started to run at me, everything happened so fast the only option i had was to run for my safety. I had so much heavy camera equipment (7.5 kilograms) so this made it a little difficult. I looked back and he was still running at me. At this point you start to really worry for your safety and start to panic. What's the best thing to do? How's this going to end? These guys can run upto 40 mph, that's far faster than what i could run. As i kept running i came up to a little stream/river and i was debating whether or not to try and cross it despite it being so cold out and it being at least 2-3 foot deep. Thankfully at this point the deer no longer saw me as a threat and decided to stop charging at me.
This was one of the most scariest moments in my life i have experienced. I cant really explain how it feels to be ran at by a 200kg 10 pointer stag but im sure you could imagine what thoughts go around inside your head. That day could have ended badly, i was lucky that i even saw the deer in the first place. Visibility was extremely difficult with how dark it was combined with the fog. Deer are no joke. Never for a second underestimate how friendly a deer can be. The major factor i need to point out is the respectable distance i was at, i gave the stag plenty of room but that didn't stop anything. You might think you're safe but things can drastically change very quickly. 🦌
what an amazing story... 👍

Yikes! No wild animal is predictable, so glad you're👌.

Amazing capture! 😊
Wow that is scary! I already shat my pants when a highland cow started walking a little too fast towards me. I can't imagine being chased by a deer
Woow! So scaring! Thanks God u are alive and everything is ok! 👍
Rutting season.... A very risky time. Was once charged up in Jasper, BC as I accidentally came face to face with a male Elk and his lounging cows. Our cabin was close by.... my saving grace.
